These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of My Leitner Box ("the Service", "we", "us", "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Description of the service
My Leitner Box is an online spaced-repetition and flashcard service based on the Leitner method. You can create boxes (collections of flashcards), add or import cards (e.g. words or phrases, with optional pronunciation and audio), and review them. The system schedules reviews according to the Leitner algorithm. Some boxes may be shared so other users can discover and copy them. We may change or discontinue features with reasonable notice where appropriate.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your password secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. You can manage your account (e.g. profile, password, account deletion) from Profile & Account Settings. One account per person; do not share your account or create multiple accounts to circumvent limits or abuse the Service.
3. Acceptable use
You may use the Service only for lawful purposes and in line with these Terms. You may not: use the Service to distribute illegal, harmful, or infringing content; attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts; overload or disrupt the Service; scrape or automate access in a way that violates our instructions or places undue load on the Service; or use the Service in any way that harms us or others. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
4. Your content and license to us
You keep ownership of the content you create (e.g. boxes, flashcards, and profile data such as display name, bio, and profile picture). By uploading or creating content on the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, and process that content as needed to provide and operate the Service (e.g. backups, sharing of shared boxes, displaying your profile picture in the interface, and improving the product). You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to post your content and that it does not infringe others' rights. Profile pictures must be appropriate and must not contain illegal, harmful, or infringing material; we may remove or require removal of content that violates these Terms.
5. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. We do not guarantee any specific learning outcomes. Use of the Service and any reliance on it is at your own risk.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we (and our affiliates, directors, employees, and suppliers) are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use or inability to use the Service or from these Terms. Our total liability for any claims related to the Service or these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim (or, if you paid nothing, to zero). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
7. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms or for other operational or legal reasons. You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account yourself from Profile & Account Settings (Danger zone). Account deletion permanently removes your account, all your Leitner boxes and cards, and related data. Upon termination (by you or by us), your right to use the Service ends. We may retain your data for a reasonable period for backup, legal compliance, or dispute resolution where permitted by law; for data export or other requests, see our Privacy Policy and contact us.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. For material changes, we may notify you by email or a notice on the site where appropriate. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Service.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which we operate, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless otherwise required by mandatory law.
